1:1 Consulting
The common saying is, “all dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians”. In other words, a registered dietitian needs to have earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in a related field, complete courses within the didactic program in dietetics (DPD), match and complete a specified amount of hours through an accredited internship, pass a national examination and maintain continuing education credits. While some dietitians may refer to themselves as ‘nutritionists’, nutritionists who have not undergone the above education and practice cannot refer to themselves as ‘registered dietitians’.
Alyssa specializes in digestive health, food relationships and sports nutrition.
Alyssa works with athletes (including high school, college and professional levels) and active individuals to fuel their training needs. We also work with athletes who battle digestive issues in order to help them to manage their symptoms and meet their performance goals.
Additionally, Alyssa works with individuals who suffer from various GI conditions, such as those with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), Gastroparesis, Celiac Disease, Eosinophilic Esophagitis, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), and those with food sensitivities. Whenever Alyssa provides guidance regarding foods to temporarily avoid in order to improve symptoms, she always ensures that you understand which foods should be well tolerated, so that you are not left wondering what else is left to eat! She also provides additional resources as needed (such as shopping guides, recipes, meal/snack ideas, etc.) in order to help ease your transition into the nutrition protocol.
Alyssa also works with individuals to break free from diet culture and help you improve your relationship with food, as well as any digestive symptoms that may be related to disordered eating patterns.
Alyssa will work with you to improve your relationship with food, whether the focus is on symptom management and navigating a nutrition protocol in the least restrictive way possible, sports nutrition and improving performance, or improving health-related behaviors and establishing healthy habits – without a side of diet culture!
All nutrition counseling sessions are virtual using a HIPAA compliant, secure telehealth platform that allows for video, screen sharing and encrypted communication.
While it is possible to book all nutrition appointments directly on this website, it is important to first contact us to schedule a complimentary, brief discovery call, during which we can discuss your goals, you can learn more about Alyssa’s approach and we can answer any questions about the process you may have. Once we complete the phone consultation, you can then purchase a service or package and book your appointment directly through your client portal.
